iFlash Adaptor

Finally, after some delays the day has come to launch the Apple Video Ipod Compact Flash Adaptor - iFlash to it’s friends.

This iFlash has been totally redesigned to provide the ultimate plug and play solution to upgrading your Video Ipod to use Compact Flash cards.

Features

  • Smoother User Interface, no waiting for the hard drive
  • Works with most Compact Flash cards 4gb to 16gb
  • Should be compatible with future 32gb & 64gb CF cards
  • Reliability - no mechanical hard drive about to fail
  • Lighter by 27grams, 20% weight saving (based on 30gb version)
  • Drop proof if the LCD survives, so will the Compact Flash
  • Extended Battery life up-to 50% increase (real world usage)
  • Fits all 30gb, 60gb, and 80gb 5g 5.5g Video Ipod
  • Blue PCB because it looks nice!
  • Supplied with a set of iPod opening tools
  • Simple and very easy installation (takes less than 5 minutes)

iFlash Adaptor
The Adaptor has been designed to perfectly fit within the iPod, and it takes total advantage of the internal metal frame to provide the ultimate finish and protection for the adaptor and compact-flash card.

Floating design, the adaptor is held within the case using rubber mounting points - this has the benefit of reducing shock and vibration travelling to the compact flash card as well as insuring that it will not bang or hit against the motherboard or LCD.

Examining many iPod’s that have been dropped beyond the hard drive not working, several more faults are caused by the mass of the drive banging against the LCD and internal components - that is why you find dropped iPod’s tend to not power-up as well as having faulty drives. The Adaptor has been designed to guard against this.

Plug and Play solution - no modifications or hacks needed to the iPod, remove the hard drive and install the adaptor, simple as that!!

Enjoy the smooth and faster user interface, no more waiting seconds for the hard drive to spin-up and read. Effortlessly fast forward through your music selection, or scroll through video’s without sapping power spinning up the hard drive.iFlash Adaptor

Installation

Watch the installation video below. The biggest challenge you will face is how hard it is to open the iPod, but with patience and perseverance most people manage it. Most important tip I can offer is to make sure the thin sharp end of the opening tool is pushed deep in to the seam between the front and back case, and with a gentle pulling action away from the ipod run the tool up and down the seam. Make sure the tools is kept inserted as far as possible in to the seam - this is what releases the clips!!! You will hear and feel them release.

Disclaimer

Due to the world of litigation, I need to warn you that everything you read is for information only - if you decide to open your iPod, install the adaptor, or attempt anything because of what you have read here then you do so at your own risk.

I cannot take responsibility to any damage you cause to yourself, to someone else, to your iPod, to your Compact Flash card, and to any other property belonging to you or not from information gained on this site.

What this means is if you manage to blow up your iPod and in the panic fall out of your second floor window - you are on your own!!

If you are not comfortable or have some doubt with the techniques shown on this page or you are just frightend at the prospect of falling out the window please do not attempt them, get someone else to do it for you.

Great that you are finally getting this product out to the public! I had read of your projects before and, since I am a bit clumsy on soldering, I had purchased some obscure Asian ZIF-to-CF adapter, which did not get me anywhere past a Sad iPod icon. When reinstalling the hard drive, it works again (more or less).

Can’t wait till your adapter arrives, no PITA messing with strips of foam to get a secure installation and then still having to pray that the thing will work on the iPod.
It will be such a great feeling, not having to be afraid to dock the iPod or take it on a bike ride, worrying that any action might be just the drop the mechanical miniature HD is waiting for to give me the middle finger.
